IEDP, 12 March 2013
The IEDP held a briefing on the PSED on 12th March 2013 from 6 to 8pm at The Human Rights Action Centre, Amnesty International, 17-25 New Inn Yard, London, EC2A 3EA. The main speaker was Barbara Cohen, Discrimination Law Consultant.
Barbara works on discrimination law across the European Union. She was head of legal policy at the Commission for Racial Equality in the 1990s. Barbara has worked with the old and new equality commissions and UK statutory and voluntary bodies. She was one of the driving forces behind the enactment of the race equality duty in 2000 and has worked on the public sector equality duties since then.
It was attended by people who are concerned about whether the Public Sector Equality Duty is to be abolished, and wanted to consider how we can respond to the current consultation.
To cover costs and light refreshment there was a fee of £10 plus VAT for IEDP members and £20 plus VAT for non-members. Any non-members who join the IEDP at the meeting on 12th March could have a £10 discount.
